It’s a Steve Shook Quadfecta!

We here at Chandler Travis HQ are certainly not above some blatant huckstering for an event, particularly one as auspicious as the upcoming May 3rd Travis and Shook present the Steve Shook CD Release Party at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater. (by the way, we’re hearing that advance ticket sales for the party are going strong, so if you’re planning on going, you should get your tickets in advance).

And so, in a shameless attempt at promotional synergy, we bring you not just one but four tracks from the past, all featuring the one & only Steve Shook.

Song #1 is a real gem – a previously unreleased Travis, Shook & the Club Wow song, “That’s the Way Uh Huh Uh Huh Bob Likes It,” taken from a live recording of a 1975 run at The Roxy in Los Angeles, CA. Perhaps someday we’ll get to hear more from this run, maybe even a live Travis, Shook & the Club Wow album. No guarantees, of course, but a Valet can dream, can’t he?

Song #2, “Breakaway,” is a track from the “Inedible Casserole” series and a personal fave of mine – just stunningly beautiful, really, with lead guitar by Eric Rosenfeld. It’s from the Inedible Casserole #3, “There Goes Another Five Dollars”

Song #3, “Just a Phase/That’s Right,” was suggested by Chandler after I said I wanted a song that really featured Steve’s guitar playing. It’s from “Weekend on Mt Cod,” an album of outtakes, live tracks, and otherwise unreleased songs by Travis & Shook, and the 14th in the RadioBall series.

Finally we have Song #4, “Must Be Love.” This song should be familiar to most current day Chandler Travis Philharmonic and Chandler Travis Three-O listeners; we love the song and play it at many of our shows, and there’s a Philharmonic studio version on “Tarnation and Alastair Sim (a/k/a ‘Kitty’).” This version is a different arrangement and is a live track by the original trio version of the Incredible Casuals, from the 7th and final of their “Inedible Casserole” series, “Parsley, Sage, Sulfer & Leroy”

I love all of these, you guys! I was in very good company tonight, at least, with Chuck Cole also being shut out of your performance (I had a meeting that was cancelled or I would have bought my ticket early). Please, please do another one! judith
