So into the studio we go for basics, and it was fun to re-visit this pre-drum and kitchen sink version, as we’ve been lobbing all manner of kookiness onto this thing for months since, albeit mostly on the bridge, which may, more or less by design, turn into a total bloated disaster… who knows? if it’s bad enough, maybe we’ll just go back to this version, which has its own low-key charms (including making it real easy to hear the lovely string bass and piano contributions of John Clark and Berke McKelvey (the latter already discussed some in Chapter Two)…
